Service Description

Dates: May 9 - 11 (pre-test on May 11) Course Prerequisites (for both full and recertification courses): Participants must be able to pass a prerequisite skills evaluation. Failure to complete the prerequisites will prohibit you from completing the rest of the course. Skills that must be demonstrated successfully include: 1) Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. 2) Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. 3) Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water. Swim googles are NOT allowed Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 8 feet to retrieve a 10-pound brick Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object while keeping your face at or near the surface so you are able to get a breath. You should NOT swim the distance under water. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. All full certification courses utilize a blended learning format in which online learning modules must be completed prior to the first day of the course. Course Requirements: - Mandatory Attendance: Full attendance is required. Absences result in course failure—no exceptions or refunds. Please confirm availability before registering. - Active Participation: Engage in all class activities. - Skill Competency: Demonstrate proficiency in all required skills. - Professionalism: Exhibit maturity and responsibility expected of a lifeguard. - Final Scenarios: Successfully complete three practical assessments. - Written Exams: Score at least 80% on both written tests. What to Bring to Class: - Swimwear, towel, and change of clothes - Lunch, snacks, and drinks - Pen for notes and exams

Cancellation Policy

You must pre-pay for classes. We do accept cash and checks the first day of class. Returning employees of Upcountry do receive a discount on classes ($150 full class/$75 recertification). A full refund will be issued if you are unable to complete the pre-requisites. No refunds are issued beyond the pre-req testing. No refunds are given for not passing the final exams.
